Death - But A Dear Friend
Soft, familiar voices
Echoing throughout the walls of my dying mind
The day has been long lasting
For a life short lived
A presence
With a wealth of knowledge in fields of fate
Most aware of my condition
Patiently waits at my side
While I observe the final sunset of my existence
He's the man with a hidden face
A jack of all trades
With us everyday
Some are well aware
Some refuse to believe
Most just carry on with their lives
He is a friend
A helper
A witness of your gains and losses
A man who is well aware of the struggles of living
And admires the simplicity of dying
Most people refuse to be subject to his actions
Most people are stubborn
He is only a friend
Who is there to ease the pain that greed, lies and misguidance have brought upon your battered soul
So here I lie
In a bed that has never felt so comfortable
Watching the sun give way to the night
Knowing it will rise again in my absence
His touch I have felt
The last thing I will ever feel
Not a hit
Not a kiss
But symbols of reassurance
That my mind can rest easy
Into an endless sleep of spiritual tranquility
Where all is infinite
