Afraid
I am afraid,
Afraid of too many things
Things from the creepy crawly bugs
To the things that slither through me
Like a snake
And take over my body.
I am afraid,
Afraid to cry in public
Because like a stone cold water fountain
The tears flow continuously down the stream
On my face
Leaving behind the white dried streaks.
I am afraid,
Afraid to love
Because I can be as fragile
As copy paper
When you rip it
And try taping it back together,
I am never the same.
I am afraid,
Afraid of my past
Because like the
Green, four-eyed, trash-like
Monsters in a haunted house
It can creep-up-behind you
And it can disrupt the harmony of your life
It has the possibility of pushing you to the ground
And hoping that you never get back up.
I am afraid,
Afraid of judgement
Because maybe people won’t like me
As me
Then who do I become,
Maybe they see me as a soccer ball,
So they think they can kick me around
Or to them, I’m like a elevator
And they think they can push my buttons.
I am afraid,
Afraid of fear itself
Because being afraid of everything
Makes you miss everything
But like an airplane, on a clear blue day
I must soar up, into the sky
Leaving all of my fears on the ground.
