I had a dream
Where I was falling
Like a comet crashing through the galaxy
Not very graceful
Yet shining and silent

Blinking quickly in the new surroundings
Standing small in a brightly colored planet
Tall blossoms whispering to me
Bragging about beauty and vanity
Making me feel even smaller
Until I am a speck
Of dust
Gone

Floating in the breeze
I’m swept off to a large house
The distance allows my body to grow
Larger and larger as the wind swirls around me
Tangling its gentle fingers in my hair and around my face
But it stops suddenly
And again I fall
Like raindrops splattering on the pavement
And my memories splash out with me

Forgetting myself I see a pompous caterpillar
It promises me childhood and happiness
And I lose myself in the swirling fog
Of my own consciousness

Stumbling out of the fog
Leaving my body behind
Two paths for one soul
I’m torn in half

I am a vanishing pair of eyes
And a flickering curious tail
A grinning cat leaps from branch to branch
I chase it, crying out
Why do you smile?
He responds
By disappearing
And I’m left alone to wander

In the distance
Tinkling bells call to me
Lifted up upon music notes
I’m carried to a feast
Steam rising from cups
Two people spin in the swirling air
Singing a joyful tune with the bells
Remembering happiness I twirl
Laughter echoing through my shattered heart
Sealing the pieces together

And then I see her
Beautiful pale skin
Shining white in the sun
Glistening with dew drops
We’re painting the roses red
Beauty marred
With oppression and conformity
And the world collapses
Under scorching flames
And I descend with it

Opening my eyes slowly
As if dragging myself from the depths of oceans
Swimming through ideas and time
To suddenly strike the surface
I awake
And see a white rabbit

This poem was styled after the plot and feelings of (Charles Lutwidg Dodgson) Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. I hope you enjoy my description of the journey!
