Falling in Love
When I first took that plunge into the deep blue abyss,
I felt like a helpless creature
about to jump off a hundred foot cliff
into an ocean with jarring rocks and hungry sharks
I stumbled up the ladder
and crept across the green plank
Peering over the edge, I sucked in a quick breath
and felt as if I was about to cry
It wasn’t really a jump, more like I tripped over a rock
but this time I couldn’t catch myself
The fall was quick, I almost didn’t realize it was happening
And when I landed in the pool, I let the water devour me
The way I jumped off that diving board
was the same way I fell in love with you
And now, I’m letting the water engulf me,
sinking deeper into its mysterious depths
