Someday
I know things may have been hard for you today, but
Someone may have told someone else I love you
For the very first time while their hands intertwined
Or
Said I do to the love of their life, smiling in
The eyes of that special someone they’ll grow old with to
Sit in rocking chairs with and at the other’s jokes
Even if they’re not funny.
A mother might see her beautiful daughter for the first time,
So precious with a little round-ball face and the father might
Even shed a tear when he holds his baby girl
Or
A student received their first good mark on a test after
They studied so hard so finally hard work pays off and tears
Even start rolling down their face as they’re overwhelmed by joy.
Today a soldier could have come home from duty overseas and
His small children run over and start crying daddy we missed you
While his wife is standing in the background breaking down
Because she sees her other half again and her dreams of sitting in
Creaking rocking chairs laughing at his unfunny jokes become real again.
I know things may have been hard for you today, but
Remember this could be you someday and you will cry tears of
Joy instead of sorry.
