A broken bone,
Fractured joint,
Torn ligament
Is a softer blow than
A sharp knife

An over stressed muscle,
Cancerous cells,
Cold body
Is more of a noticeable pain
Than the sharp knife.

A rushing hospital
With its beeping lies
And tell-tale expressions
Can only cover the outside with band aids
Or commit surgery on the heart.

It doesn't do anything against the
Sharp knife.

Would you know if I used the knife?

This sharp knife can only heal temporary problems,
But it's a permanent solution.
This sharp knife is what I've turned to
When I was scared
When you weren't there
When my lies weren't enough.

No healing can fix the sharp knife
No hospital can diagnose it
No lies can cover it.

There are harder blows
There are worse symptoms

But there isn't a cure
To the
Sharp Knife.

It's not an epidemic. It isn't something that everybody worries about. It's not even that great a poem. But it is important. It does hurt people. It does kill.
