Hope for a Promise
I cannot tell a lie
Sometimes the malice shows
As arrows are shot my way
I writhe and bite and strike in return.
I cannot tell a lie
Sometimes they hurt me so
Their promises shatter in my face
And I flare up with a vengeance.
To be honest,
I knew all along.
To be honest,
I knew they had lied.
Sometimes,
I want them to hurt,
To hurt for the hurt
They’ve caused.
I cannot tell a lie
I always believe in their promises
My heart holds onto the words
And I lift into an endless sky.
I always want it to be true.
I’ve always wanted to be carried away.
