Fading Thoughts
Today, I watched the sunset fade into stars.
My music soothed and settled the light
into the night
and my skin chilled at
the thought of no thoughts.
At the thought of
living in a world
without freedom
of shifting
into the night
into the light
or the colors that lie in between.
I can’t stand it
so I fall
back into my mind
with milky tunes
that remain smooth with time
in order to awaken the sun
and give it time to shine
after promising the stars
they still belong in the sky
and can remain at large,
but have the free will to hide.
