The Likleyhood of Being Sane
My brothers eyes
Can be so kind
When they choose to.
And as he raises his voice
I think of times he was small and pure
Helpless and genuine.
And as he repeats himself
As he repeats
Repeats himself
And as he repeats himself
As he repeats himself
And as he repeats
I think of when his hair was long and his clothes where black
I think of when he was my age.
When he is nurturing and wise
I am surprised
But I am grateful
And I savor the taste of his presence.
When he takes gravity for granted
I seek shelter behind locked doors.
And when my brother yells of things I did not do
My mother corrects to no avail
And my father sips sickeningly thick red liquids
That reek of somber stars
and a leathery man with dim eyes and a belt in hand.
My brothers eyes did not choose to be kind today
As they opened in that earth shattering
Utterly deafening
Piercing silence in your soul
Kind of way
And I cry
And explain the dirt he is always flicking from his ear was never there to begin with
And his mentality breaks
And crumbles
His sanity fades
As he repeats himself
And he repeats
He repeats himself
He repeats himself
And he repeats himself
Repeats himself.
