"The self-same well from which our laughter rises was often times filled with our tears." - Kahlil Gibran

Behind these eyes lies an ocean of blood and loathing
Behind these eyes stands the warrior who has borne the slaughtering
Behind these eyes lives a vine, scathed and torn into into tiny shreddings
For I have survived the tug of war
And run vast distances in the battlefield
For I have abandoned a chain of broken hearts' strands
And left a trail of teardrops in the sand
For I have buried treasures that are too hard to find
Treasures of vengeance and my peace of mind
Just to fill the gaps in the bowels of your heart
For I have died and lived a thousand times
And craved to discover your soul's mines
Where behind these eyes, my eyes
Appear my innocence and purity
Not my crimes

I like how it talks about the 'criminal's' stained past but all it wants is redemption. It's very powerful. I enjoy reading works like yours :)

It seems as if the person who is speaking is trapped in his own mind. Very intriguing as a inhibited or locked up criminal! You made me think and I like that. Keep writing!

This was heartbreaking and beautiful. I hope you continue to write, and I will read anything you write, for I have to say that in just reading this poem, I can see you have an amazing gift.
