Panic Attacks
The drilling heartbreak of an anxious heart
Pounds faster than a jackhammer.
Can’t make a squeak, can’t fall apart,
Or I turn redder than a fresh Maine lobster
Can’t breathe when I’m with others;
Can’t see when there’s a crowd;
Popping an Ativan like there’s no other,
Only safe when no one’s around.
Panic attacks roll over my body,
Make me shake, make my vision fuzzy,
Senses heightened, I act so funny;
Yet there’s nothing hilarious about anxiety.
