Sticks and Stones
Sticks and bones may break my bones
but I swear the words you spoke dug deeper into
my skin and left worse marks than
any piece of nature ever could.
Sometimes words have a bigger impact than the actions
you inflict on me and
I don't think you are aware of the severity that you are
capable of causing.
'Cause you see,
sticks and stones may bruise the bones within me
but I wear the words that you speak right on my skin with shame
in forms of self-inflicted discipline.
Don't you dare try to tell me to "let it go"
when the words have hit me with more of an impact than any
g****** bullet ever could by
going through my skull.
Sticks and stones may break my bones
but holy f***,
your words are like jagged knives.
