Thin Water
Don't look at me like that
I'm not an animal like you seem to think I am
I am still a person
And lies aren't what I'm looking for
Don't tell me what I want to hear
Lies aren't erasable
They taint the world
They taint the world like ink on cotton
And the rivers run black as pitch
With sin
With the lies that come falling out of spiteful mouths
Men
Women
Children
You
Me
And you still look at me like I'm insane
Insane
When I tell you:
you are treading on thin water
because you are
you are done
the game is up
and you are out
and down
down into the thin water
and you say you can swim?
yes, you can, I'm sure.
but can you struggle away from the cavernous depths where you have hidden your guilt for years on end without any remorse?
which will kill you first?
will it be me or your illimitable secrets
and
lies?
Yes, I suppose I'm despicable, but for more reason than one.
Sinner?
yes.
Liar?
yes.
Treading on thin water?
also yes.
