Drifter
I was so afraid to lose her
Knowing that she was a drifter.
So I made a list of all the places I
Wanted to kiss her.
I would kiss her on the Eiffel Tower
And I would kiss her in New York.
I would kiss her on the bus,
I'd kiss her when she was a dork.
I drew her pictures, wrote her songs,
Knowing that soon she would be gone.
So afraid that I would miss her,
I gave my heart up to a drifter.
I feared the day that she would leave,
While I stayed here behind.
I dreamt she'd say "Please come with me!"
I dreamt that she was mine.
I was afraid to lose this drifter,
Knowing that I wouldn't forget her.
Until she showed me the list she made
Of the places I would kiss her.
