Same Old Story
September 8, 2014
i woke up trying to read the pages
but they all remained the same
they read the same damn thing for ages
screaming all the same damn names
they say the same damn hurt
that always comes around
they speak the same damn truth
that flows throughout this here town
they spell the same old stories
that i try so hard to lose
they spell the same old horrors
of when i was with you
they’re stained with all the tears
that i let go of as i cry
they spell all the hurt i felt
from all the goddamn lies
they spell the pain i feel
in just those few short pages
though i knew you not so long
i feel as tho it was for ages
i pull the pages from the book
trying to erase the history of me and you
i try to keep my head strait forward
but the pages call me back to blue
they are riddled with stories
that i want to forget
they are riddled with hurt
that i don’t want to feel just quite yet
they go on and on with chapters of pain
each of the long ones titled with your name
but i look to you
you read the same
but no tears are staining your page
you flip right through like its of no attention
you don’t even look to me
you don’t even mention
you skim through the chapters where i say i love you
you breeze through the sentence
of me saying everything ill do
you reach the end
way before me
you put down the book
just another story
but I’m reading on
enjoying the best parts
the parts you breezed through
the ones where i really did love you
i stain the pages a few more times
before i decide its time to stop
you’re on another book laughing away
and here i am, with my tearstained page
but thats okay, to you i was a chapter
to me you were the book
but now I’m burning the pages
to the ashes i won’t look
this one wasn’t ready
to be put on the shelf
i guess you were to busy
thinking about yourself
here i tear out all the pages
and you look as you hear them rip
and from the corners of my eyes
you see my tears slowly drip

To love is to be vulnerable; Triumph is born out of struggle; We notice shadows most when they stand alone in the midst of overwhelming light.
