Mirror
Look in the mirror,
what do you see?
A proud mother and father,
holding up their baby.
They beam with joy,
she’s their first, you see.
They’ve got plans and
dreams for their little baby.
Look in the mirror,
what do you see?
A little girl smiling
so happily.
She’s only five,
cute as a doll,
hair in pigtails,
so very, very small.
Look in the mirror,
what do you see?
A short girl, just twelve
frowning dejectedly.
Another day of not
living up to expectations,
teasing from peers,
feeling like a miscreation.
Look in the mirror,
what do you see?
A sweet-sixteener,
staring confusedly.
She doesn’t know what to do in life,
she can’t make a difference.
Unsecure in her world,
an outcast, with no brilliance.
Look in the mirror,
what do you see?
A woman in a suit,
smiling back confidently.
She’s successful now,
found a passion in living,
beautiful and prosperous,
but always kind and giving.
Look in the mirror one final time,
and what do you see?
You see yourself, you’re truly happy,
and you’re
finally
free.

I'm someone who's very self concious about images, and am not very self confident. Gaining self confidence is what really inspired me to write this. I hope that this will make people know that they're not alone, and that they should be proud to be themselves.
