Be You
tell me
why
i have to
belittle myself
to be considered
"humble"
that i should
be "skinny"
to be pretty
that i need
to be small
and
cute
to be a girl
yet why can't I be proud of myself
and all my strengths and achievements?
Why am I forbidden to strut my
not-model thin body with confidence?
Why shoudl I not be fierce and passionate
and angry and broken when I want to be?
Because society and media tries
to fit all of us into this
Barbie mold to enslave
our minds into
believing that
we're not
good
enough,
but I promise you are--
I promise you can be a dainty fighter
who is stunningly witty
with enchanting eyes and a captivating laugh
and a tendency to fall over your own feet
but still be considered gracefully charming,
and all of that is more than enough for the world around you
because it is you,
and it is you who you are meant to be.
