The Beast
She backs down
For she is afraid
She doesn't want to harm anyone
So all she does is fade.
She fades into the black
As voices surround her soul
She loses herself
Loses sight of the goal.
The room is dark
Her eyes the only source of light
She closes them slowly
And prays for the fall of night.
The darkness is suffocating
And lovely as silk
It soothes her soul
Like a glass of milk.
But the milk is gone
And she shatters the glass
She hurts everyone
When these feelings amass.
She doesn't mean to do this
Doesn't want to lash out
But something comes over her
Something evil, without a doubt.
This evil has a name
Depression is what it's called
It takes over her words and actions
Leaving her appalled.
And now she has done it again
Turned around and walked away
She left him standing alone
Although she said always she would stay.
Not all is lost
They are not totally torn apart
But there was no reason for the hurt
To fire words like a dart.
So please don't take to heart
What she says in bouts of rage
She's still struggling to keep the beast
Locked away in its cage.
I'm sorry...
