I am a star,
Shining bright for all to see.
Until I remember,
There are millions more aside from me.

I am a star,
Who on her own shines brightly.
But there’s always one
Who smugly must outshine me.

I am a star,
Always there, but try as I might,
It won’t take much
To outshine my feeble light.

I am a star,
Who can’t find her place in the sky.
But someday you’ll see,
I’ll be brighter than the moon, ever nigh.

Thank you, Liv!! :D I think that's often something we all with...we all want to shine the brightest, but like you said, there are so many others out there that shine brighter than us. Unfortunately it's just a fact of life that we must accept and then move on from. If we just do our best and shine with all we have, then, and only then can we find true satisfaction in life and in our accomplishments. And who knows? Maybe someday our light will shine brighter than we thought :) Thank you again for your kind words, they really mean a lot to me :)

I can definitely relate to this. Wonderful work. I sincerely enjoyed your poem and the theme was so interesting. There are so many poems and sayings about stars, but yours is unique. Your writing is so beautiful.

This perfectly describes how I feel most of the time. I always want to be the brightest, best star, but I know that there are others out there that shine a little bit more than I do. I really like this and how expressive it was. Like all the rest of your poetry, you are very honest and I love that so much, it fgives more life to your writing, which practically makes it real lol Great job! XD

Well thank you for being the first to comment! And I'm glad that my poem had the intended effect on you :) I got tired of the old cliche metaphor of being "a shining star" so I decided to put a new spin onto it! :) Once again, thank you so much for your comment!!

I can't believe this doesn't have any comments! This poem is so unique and leaves such an impact on the reader. I love how you used the sky and stars to play into how the person feels about themself. It really is a marvelous poem! Keep writing!
