Fake It Until I Make It
They say I’ll never make it,
unless I decide to fake it.
Shouldn’t I be free
to express my individuality?
And if I follow their path,
what will be the aftermath?
If I choose to follow,
I’ll be force to wallow
in despair,
life simply isn’t fair.
There should be no strife
when I want to live my own life.
You words push with more force
than a partially unwanted divorce.
If I pretend to be like you,
am I really being true
to myself?
I’m just another book on the shelf.
But I still have to try to make it,
and I don’t intend to fake it
