Eighty years
to love,
Twenty-nine thousand, two hundred days
to leap,
Seven hundred thousand, eight hundred hours
to learn,
Forty-two million, forty-eight thousand minutes
to laugh,
Two billion, five hundred and twenty-two million, eight hundred and eighty thousand seconds
to live,
One lifetime
to leave…

The author's comments:

My inspiration for this poem started with my best friend telling me that her mom has cancer and might not survive it. This got me thinking about life and how short it really is. I hope that people will read this poem and really take to heart the fact that they only have 2,522,880,000 seconds to live...and when you look at it like that, it doesn't seem like very long at all. Cherish every second of your lifetime.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read my poem and comment on it! It means a lot :) And I'm very glad that it had the desired effect on you! I think if everyone truly thought about how short life really is, then we would have so many more meaningful experiences and every moment in our lives would mean so much more. Thanks again!!!

Wow, this is fantastic! This really makes you think about what you are doing with your life and what you should be doing. Sometimes we get so caught up in our busy lives that we don't think about how short we are on this earth. Thanks so much for posting this! I love your work.

This is amazing. It really puts a perspective on how much and how little time we truly have. I love this foer the message and the little note beside it. :) Sometimes it takes a tragedy to teach us how to live. The emotion behind this is really powerful, and the words I readf were lovely :) I loved this so so so so so so much! Great job, never stop writing :)
