Night sounds
So dark I can barely see.
Shadows from the trees loom over me.
Lights flash as cars pass by.
I wouldn't be able to sleep even if I tried.
Thoughts consume me.
I lay still and just reflect.
I detect night sounds from inside and out.
I hear the crickets chirp, the refrigerator hum, the rain slide down the glass.
As my eyes pass over my window I see the beautiful moon.
I find peace as I marvel.
As the stars sparkle.
I become content with myself.
I hear the wind chimes ring.
I fall asleep slowly to the singing of the front yard.
