Things that make me happy
(After Kimiko Hahn)
Hearing my mother laughing at a crappy commercial
on TV makes me realize that she is just as happy as I am.
That surprising moment when I jump onto the scale,
finding that my weight has gone to healthy, even
though right after I am going to eat a Reese Peanut Buttercup.
My heart wanting to burst when I find out my sister has gone
up three pounds, however finding out that in two weeks
that she is probably going to lose
15 pounds suddenly. But I am okay.
Peeling the plastic off a new electronic literally
makes me the want to jump into the air.
Having you next to me while I am sleeping;
protecting me from the monsters under my bed.
Wearing fuzzy socks that stick to my toes, watching the
rain outside my bedroom window, drinking my English
Breakfast Tea with a pinch of milk.
Receiving a Valentines Day card from my father saying
“I love you,” even though it is all a lie.
