Soul Fire
I am spirits soothed and shattered, child of blank battles and black blood
Fear is my courage, weakness my strength
Dare you defy one who knows how you bleed? I have glossed the glassy grace
Of gossamer souls, savored how they shape, suffer with such faultless agony
Consciously, eagerly, I break my heart to build it
Indulge in pain so fierce it’s peace
I am friends with the rebel in me, a revolution of emotion and idea
Liberation is a dare—take it, if you can
I am inky sparks through local thought
Contemporary of national gold
And unfathomable force in a game just begun
I am powerful passion personified, a blaze in and out of control
Old order burns and I with it
Let the ashes of my wild mind, this screaming, starving chaos
Give rise to the phoenix of a New World
Where flames flower with hope’s healing smoke
And scars sear to hot white rebirth
