Some Friends
Some friends are like the spring rains,
Falling gently on the moist, green grass.
Soothing the parched, yellow bitterness of winter.
Promising, when they leave-
To come again.
Some friends are like bursts of sunshine,
Reaching down to turn seedlings into flowers.
Shouting, laughing, singing- until you can’t help but join in.
Winking, telling you that they will be there-
To let you know that they will return.
Some friends are like the October mists,
Appearing in the early morning to greet you with their presence.
Steady and confident.
Lending you their strength, they promise-
To be there
