Did you ever stop and think about your next move

because the words from your mouth burned
like a seatbelt trapped in a car under the sun
I shuddered every time I tried to express myself
because I was scared
that you wouldn’t accept me for me
Did you ever stop and think that your words may leave a scar on me
because soon enough they became a cup of spilled tea
I would never forget
Did you ever stop and think that maybe your actions
led to unnecessary events
I wouldn’t have cried till all hours of the night
if you hadn’t told me those things
If you had even given me the smallest ounce of respect
I wouldn’t have had to lay on the bathroom floor
pulling my hair out of my head
until the pain finally numbed my mind
Did you ever stop and think that maybe you were making it hard
for certain people to get up in the morning
For certain people to feel there was a reason why they were here
Did you ever stop and wonder why I felt so isolated
After you took everyone who was there for me
and fed them your little lies
Did you really expect me to be okay
Did you really expect me to smile and shrug it off
like it was
an accident
Did you ever stop and think about how I felt
You acted as if my life was a game against your worst enemy
it was a game that you had to pick and prod at in order to get the best result
Did you ever stop and wonder why I disappeared
Why I felt when I tried to stand up
when I tried to stick up for myself
when I tried to fight off the people who were pulling me down
You just surrounded me with your judgement
With you your high horse stamping at my face
I couldn’t get up even if I wanted to
