September

September’s walking away with nails full of blood,
Hands full of hope, and one finger pointing
towards August, muttering,
"I told you so."
Thirty days measured in all the ways
you doubled over, folded in and
Gave way like a house of cards
That was never a home,
So you let yourself go.
Is this really who I am?
Make the memories stop, I can’t do this anymore.
An entire tide of plastic smiles,
Rock solid love and crimson alone.
The calendar moves on but your body
Is not October yet, the pages don’t turn so easy,
When they’re rusting with regret.
I am tired of never waking up but still getting out of bed,
Tired of these days like two mirrors facing each other
Inside my head.
The infinity of this feeling, needs to come to an end.
October,
Don’t be September
All over again.
