Falling Away

This gravel road is a unique dead end
Sometimes there’s not a friend
Breaking after we all were bent
Repairing hearts that would not mend

This town’s a startling dead end
Sometimes they’re all a friend
Breaking rules that would bend
Writing letters that would not send

People think you’re so well-known
But remember you are left alone
Someday we’ll be all grown
And maybe then we will have reaped what we have sown

Look around and it’s all the same
Everyone’s losing the exact same game
Leaving won’t be such a shame
Especially when there’s an open lane

Driving down an open road
There is no secret access code
It does not seem right
Until we have seen the light

No matter how hard you try to hold on
Turn around and everything will be gone
About to leave this old, small town
Before it becomes too re-known

Go on, take on this whole world.
That town’s still a comforting dead end
To accomplish our dreams it might depend
On whether or not the world will end.
