Where Im From
From where I come from
I hear the sound of children,
playing in the streets as if a park,
From where I come from
you dodge cars like you dodge a ball in gym.
From where I come from, Chicago,, Illinois.
Around the bend is where we live in the little stone house,
Kali, Dakota, Mom, Dad and me.
Where you'll find that kid Dillon playing with the newest toys.
Playing football in the front yard,
getting that slight scent of Oconomowoc lake.
Around the bend is where I remember childhood.
On the other side of town is my new home.
the blue house in the center of the cul de sac,
with the friendly neighbors on either side mowing their lawns cigar in hand.
On the other side of town we meet for family gatherings,
pub style basement fixed with sports covering the walls.
In the summertime, you smell fresh charcoal,
the familiar smell of a pool, and laughter in the atmosphere.
On the other side of town is the blue home.
In the basement is where you will find the bTV.
It’s where the friends settle in to have fun playing Xbox.
Where we catch all the NASCAR races friday through Sunday.
Watching Kevin Harvick win and cry baby Kyle Busch lose.
In the basement is where we crack the jokes
that are too bad for the general public.
It’s where the friendship goes after school.
In the basement is where it all happens.
From Chicago, to Oconomowoc, to the other side of town.
The activities we partake in define who we are.
A fun loving family, to the wild and rowdy friends,
The Big blue house is where you will find me,
making all the noise in the basement yelling in excitement,
or laughing at that joke a friend just said,
watching the NASCAR race on the T.V.
This is where I come from.
