Where I'm From
I’m from enjoying the air like the arctic and and the pool like a volcano.
from pig roasts where the house and pool overflowing with people.
All of my friends would have noodle battles in the pool and basketball games in the driveway
I barely see them anymore… seems odd.
I’m from wishing I didn’t have to go to school because I hated the people there.
Going up north fishing, swimming and tubing in the lake and wanting to stay.
From going to McDonald’s with my grandma and eating chicken nuggets
hearing her call me potsy and my grandpa call me Bacigalupe.
She said “only one rule, no one gets hurt.”
Like all rules this was broken, more times than it should have.
I’m from playing pokemon and watching Toy Story in the back seat.
To sitting in the front of my dad’s big black truck and jamming to metallica.
From missing Jack while he was off training.
He was gone for what felt like years I barely remember him before training.
We got Annabell later but it wasn’t the same she would be all over you,
Jack never did that was used to stand like a statue until you said his name.
I’m from going to westmore to have brunch and see Santa.
Seeing everyone there eating the most delicious food
From wonder when Dad was gonna come home,
playing Smash Bros with him and Dom.
Dom holding the controller upside down.
He used to get ticked and throw the controller and say he’d never play with us again.
I’m from Dom craving Thomas the Train before bed.
I hated how it was his way nothing at all.
I’m from staying in the basement from dusk till dawn using the computer and the home theatre
to play Kingdom Hearts and Ratchet and Clank before it was complicated.
From my basement no one wanted to walk down those steps but me
one of the only places I could be alone.

As I was writing college apps I reflect my childhood and how much I miss the inocence and the simplicity that came later in life.
