Where I am From
I am from running down hills
Until I stumble
into a chipmunk hole and fracturing my ankle
I am from parents saying “siblings don’t build relationships until they are older”
at no point believing this would be true
until i grew older
I am from a home that always had laundry needing to be done
eternally busy
and filled with noise
I am from up north trips with dad
being one of the boys for a week
while still being a girly-girl on the inside
I am from spending time with family
getting really close
to only push people away when I need them most
I am from wishing I was a little shorter
wanting my hair to change color
continuing enjoying who I am
I am from expecting to get decent grades
and trying even more
if I don’t get that rewarding grade
I am from moving from house to house
meeting new people
to soon be leaving again
I am from nervousness on the first day of school
a billion thoughts
still managing to get through it
I continue to come from running down hills
until I stumble
back into a chipmunk hole and fracturing my ankle.
