Where I'm From
I am from
walks to the park shared with my brother,
to lemonade stands on a 80 degree vacant Sunday evening.
I am from a screaming chaotic pool in the backyard,
to an exhausted morning after
I am from
running around the fields and adventures,
to digging around my uncle’s creaky, wooden photo cabinet.
I am from a white and green washed out house
owned to the state of Wisconsin
I am from
collecting rocks with-the neighbor kids,
to the tears that rolled down my face as the clock struck 9.
I am from dreaming of growing up,
and wanting to play eternally
I am from
sitting on grandma’s ancient squeaky rocking chair indulging in on the infinite, intriguing stories of my childhood, and her’s.
I am from the love my family shares with me,
to the love I give them back.
