A Production of Misery
Souls that float in oblivion
Are seldom ever found
And fall into the mighty crack
We have split into the ground
The role of kings is not ours to play
Yet we grapple for the throne
And the power play of greediness
Has worn us to the bone
This fixture that still splits the earth
Grows wider every day
Our hopes and dreams of greater things
Begin to wilt away
With heavy heart and troubled souls
Lowered eyes filled with hurt
We grasp our well worn shovels
And spill our good into the dirt
In this saddened soil
We lay back and face the stars
Whose heated glares of hatred
Work to reopen scabbing scars
Beasts like us all tend to live
In the deepest, darkest holes
And only reemerge to see the light
To play our deathly roles
Spewing guts and violence
Exhaling hatred and betrayal
We crush those who are good and pure
As they scream with no avail
And now we all must suffer
For the sins that we have done
I warn that if you see us
Take one quick glance and run
In this production of Misery
I have played my part
I am now able to leave the stage
With a blackened soul and unbeating heart
