The Beautiful Side
My time is up
Nothing seems to mater
Past memories seem to fade away
Everything starts to shatter
Can’t bring myself to say it
But I think it has been said
I start to disappear
Dizziness fills my head.
Remember this
Please don’t forget me
My soul is almost locked
And there will be no key
Eyes start to close
My breathing comes to a halt
Everything freezes
I start the upward walk
I look past those pearly gates
And the streets of gold
And only God truly knows
What they withhold
I glance back down
To where my past self lies
Wondering if anyone has forgotten
That I have just died
There is a smile plastered on my face
Even though I went through pain
I slowly open the glorious gates
And know I will never be the same.
