I stared at your image in my memory.
My memory of you was fading.
Was fading away into darkness.
Into darkness I began to recall.
To recall the memories of glee.
Of glee I used to call we.

The constant reminder of you.
Of you bearing my pain.
My pain, oh I'm so sorry.
So sorry, for it was my actions.
My actions that caused the misery.
The misery, you left so willingly.

I wish things could have occurred in different ways.
Different ways I began to feel.
To feel loss of hope.
Of hope I needed to want.
To want to make a change
A change felt in range.

It's been 4 years.
4 years since your death.
Your death was two.
Was two, one for you.
For you, one for me.
For me, you let me see.

Thanks for saving my life.
My life was almost over.
Almost over was the sorrow.
The sorrow quickly rose.
Quickly rose when I saw you.
Saw you smiling like you do.

That was my (our) last day.
Last day to feel the love.
The love held us together.
Us together, it was the best.
The best, but I began to cry.
To cry, this was our last goodbye.

I held your hand.
Your hand was warm.
Was warm like your smile.
Your smile made the situation hard.
Situation hard, you rose to impart.
“I love you forever,” why does life tear us apart?
