Where did you go...?
…Don’t answer that, I know where you are, you’re at home or work or with your friends
Just where you’ve always been
I’ve seen you around too, looked into your eyes for brief moments like I used to for everlasting hours
I still read old text messages and once in a while I hear my phone and can’t help myself from begging to a god I don’t believe in that it’s you
Ever since you’ve been here, but not for me, things have been different, harder and scarier and lonelier
No one else really gets it or ever did until you
And whenever I get a glimpse of you I feel my heart skip a beat but not like it used to
I used to get excited at the thought of you smiling back at me and now I get scared and hope to pass by without being noticed.
So I know where you are and really mean to say “why aren’t you here?”
