Little winged birdie
How you struggle to fly
Perched, all alone
While you watch your brothers and sisters soar in the sky
Little winged birdie
How you struggle to fly
Trying to mimic the movements that make you anti-gravitational
But once again
Gravity isn’t your friend
And other little birdies watch
Your struggle to fly
They mock you
They laugh at you
They make you feel so damn stupid
And now you get it in your little birdie head
That if you really try
And still can’t fly
There’s something wrong with you
That your brothers and sisters will always be better than you
That all the other little birdies will make a fool out of you
Until you die and then again after your death
But my little winged birdie friend
I see your struggle to fly
I know it’s all you want in life
You’re getting so frustrated
So angry you can’t
So sad that no one will help you
And now you’re crying by yourself
And you’re exhausted
And you’ve lost faith in everything you believed in
But maybe you weren’t meant to fly
Little winged birdie
You’re different
You’re special
Little winged birdie
Have you ever tried to swim?
