The American Way
Voraciously, I turn and tear, pacing
Clawing at seams, clawing at faces
Flashing and cutting, the neon tubes combust and appal
The cold-cracked grey and dirt-powdered cinderblock way
The way to virtue? The path to adventure and thrill?
Or have my heroes left me to my gutters
Empty and charged, yearning the ink tincture
Muttering and cursing as lights and sex evade
I hunger for an American feast
Truly a poor man’s meal
