Death
Death isn't unfamiliar to me,
But it takes me by surprise every time.
The pain never seems to fade;
How, if time heals all, can it heal a wound as deep as this?
You never know how or when death is going to strike;
One day, a person you love stands next to you; the next day, you get the news that they're gone.
Will I be able to be the same?
Am I strong enough to let the pain work itself into something different?
I see that death is unavoidable,
But it still hurts, no matter who it is.
No matter how many times death hits,
I know I am not alone to carry its weight.
People don't always know why people die when they do;
When someone dies at a younger age, it's like they've been taken before their time.
But death is a mysterious thing;
It's never what people think it should be, but is both a beautiful and sad thing.

Though death is a natural part of life, it still hurts when you're the one left behind. Death is a mysterious thing, and though we can't control it, we shouldn't fear it, either.
