a woman and an anchor on the
bow balancing against the breeze, the
captain calls to her, “careful,
don’t fall my dear.” Daring to
explore they raise the anchors to embark,
“forward!” calls the captain facing the
gusts of wind that guide the giant
hull out to the horizon
in the indigo water. The captain
juggles the ropes to
keep the kites from
losing control. He
meanders around moving ships, coming

over and around other
paths, he progresses through the Pacific
quiet and calm, never thinking of
returning back to
shore. They sit down on the stern
to take a look
under the moonlight at the
vast open view of the
washing waves, wishing to stay
exactly where they are after
years of yearning to run. As he
zipped his coat
around her, their new life had
begun.
