Flying for Forever--One Mate for a Lifetime
Two loons anxiously await--a new baby will be here within the hour,
Crack! Chirp! Their first baby hatches.
Happiness and Glee fill their eyes,
baby bird snuggles up next to her mama.
Spunky, anxious little bird wants to fly--here goes her first flight,
a light summer breeze envelops her, finally a break from the water.
All together they croon a song of love,
the trees wisp to the song.
BANG!
His lover was shot,
by a figure shrouded in smoke.
Fly faster!
Protect the baby!
Stop...
There is safety--but now he is alone,
this baby will be his only child, just like she was his only love.
No longer will he gaze upon her eloquent ebony and white.
Their baby grows, has a mate of her own,
and their love is stronger than the north wind, just like her parents’.
But Dad is old--on the brink of his final flight,
He ascends into the air,
A thunderstorm brews upon him.
BANG!
With the Thunder’s monstrous roar,
He finally soars off with his lover, the Flight for Forever.
