The Pursuit of The Predator
Sahara Desert morning--
sun beams and radiates off sand.
Gazelles, impalas, and zebras struggle to survive
Lions fast for three days--
they crave their next course...
The lionesses gather round
carefully watching for the weakest
Sneaking closer and closer
trying to remain stealth.
It’s time...
With their eyes on the target,
they spring up from their cover of tall grass.
They surround the gazelle.
They pounce on it’s back
and bite the throat to end its life...
They drag the prize
back to the pride to share.
The prime meat attracts other predators.
The lionesses protect the meal
and gets the meal back to the den...
The king is pleased.
He feasts and enjoys.
The cubs get their share.
The pack is no longer famished.
They make it another day in the Sahara Desert...
