loneliness
Sometimes we need friends
not to share our companionship,
but to share our loneliness.
All of us laugh and cry with people,
we share stories and feelings
but at the end of the day,
we go to bed alone,
with only our own company....
As if we are someone else when with others;
why is it that we can't be ourselves?
Are we afraid to expose the yearning to
be loved and our deepest secrets?
Why can't we simply say,
when we are in agony,
'I want to be loved.'
Unlike the child who cries when perturbed,
we hide our tears behind the veil of adulthood.
How much simpler would life be,
if we stopped wearing masks and started being ourselves?
That way, we won't be lonely any longer.
We are lonely, because we abandon ourselves...
Because we refuse to accept ourselves
and then we sigh and wonder why we're so lonely....
Then, we would never ever be lonely.

I've been through periods of utter loneliness even when surrounded by people who love me.But then I discovered that loneliness comes from trying to abandon ourselves and not the world.I can be far from people and yet not feel lonely if I have embraced myself.
