Begins Again
Here is where the road begins
and adolescence ends.
Here the weeds die, breathless and expired
the moon melts, a powdery grey
and the sundog awakens from his rest
in the sweltering cinnamon glow,
where the mist sucks white
and the lit road elongates and straightens
near the bulge where the maple tree dies.
Resist the yellow lines that mark
where the road begins
and the blossoms die young.
