Too Young
Tall machines crowd a large humid room.
Small boys stand on the metal equipment.
Clouds of dust and smoke color the room, making it hard to breathe.
Stubborn men march around, glaring at the young children that work for him.
Little money is dispersed, despite the long and exhausting work weeks.
Deafening sounds are heard everywhere.
Voices boom trying to communicate with the people beside them.
Nothing covers the sensitive soles of the children’s feet as they work and climb onto the dangerous equipment.
Some are called to climb under the moving machines because of their convenient size.
Will I ever be able to attend school?
When will It ok to stop working here?
Will I always need to have this job to support my family?
Fear overtakes the petite bodies of the workers while they wonder if they will get hurt by the machines and if they will be able to bring enough money home for their family.
Keep working
Keep working
Keep working
