I’m lying awake in bed
Thinking, wondering
Pondering ideas
Ideas turn into words
words into phrases
then into stanzas
I’ve created a poem
I create poems in bed
while I dream
I create poems at the kitchen table
while eating breakfast
I create poems in the car
while listening to music
I create poems everywhere
while doing anything
Color
Feelings
People
Places
Inspiration lurks everywhere
Thoughts bounce around
Until a poem is built
anytime
anywhere
from whatever
about whoever
This is how
and where
a poem is found
