My Hero
Coming home to her smile
Withered and broken
But
Still a smile
Her eyes are sparkling
From the recent tears
Hiding all her fears
And doubts
Trying to be brave
For the rest of us
Putting up a front
We all see through
But we try not to look
We all play along
The game of a “happy family”
Ignoring all the tears and breaks
Focusing only on what’s still healthy
Healing old wounds
What you call a rough day
She calls an every day
This “she” is no one other
Than my mother
