My Little Hands and the Page
My little hands placed on the page
With colorful pictures and short words
If I only knew that it would be
Only a short phase
Of what was to come
I heard her voice
In the bed and during the day
Then the teachers that would say
The teachings after we play
The small, stepping stones of the Bible stories
And the painted masterpieces that transformed into memories
The movies we watched—mostly Veggietales
And I learned to draw and paint with details
The classroom filled with books and toys
And sometimes also with noise
Was where I learned more about how to hear God’s voice
Outside my heart-filled house
The ones that will never fade
And the things that were learned
And earned
Exist in the education that will stand
That will increase with every age
All started with my little hands
Steadied on the picture and small word-filled page.
