Summer
I wrote a poem once about your eyes and green grass
It was true then, that unhappy love story
About a girl who loved a boy who didn't love her back
Because he was too busy writing his own poems
Her heart was broke, or maybe just cracked
But the eyes and the green grass were still deep inside
And she couldn't seem to forget Summer
Until another pair of eyes and another season took its place
Summer was long and Summer was beautiful
But what was true then isn't true now
And I'd like it if you kept your eyes and green grass to yourself
Because Summer isn't welcome here anymore.
