Free of the Cage
If I had a thought, even just a word,
I would believe no one could catch it, as free as a bird.
But you had anger and made it into my cage,
I thought that I could help you, help de-rail your rage.
But it took too long for me to see,
No one could help, it could not be.
You didn't want help, you thought you were sane,
But everyone else could see that to you, I was just a stain.
It hurt to hear the truth, it all felt like a lie,
You said you would treat me right, love me until you would die.
But I see now, now that I am free,
You could never love anyone, never love me.
My thoughts are free, my words can fly,
I can do so much more then just fake a smile and sigh.
The best thing I ever said was "Good-bye",
And it's great to finally mean the smile whenever I say "Hi."
